Avocado + Agri = Elevated snacking

Looking for ways to spice up our beloved smashed avo? With Hass avocados in season, now’s the time to try something new, without breaking the bank.

We’re often asked "How do you use Agri Fermented Green Sriracha?", to which we answer "On everything". But, there’s nothing better than a recipe blog to show you a few simple ways to reach dizzy new snack heights!

Our fermented green sriracha covers all bases - from beginner to expert spice enthusiast - we’ve even converted the lesser-spotted avocado-hater with these quick recipes!

Smashed Avo for Avocado Haters

(Spicy smashed avo toast)

If, like me, you’ve had to train your delicate taste buds to tolerate spice, this is the snack for you. Coming into summer, fermented green sriracha is our go-to for a little flavour enhancement without the need for gallons of milk at hand.

For the time poor, this 5 ingredient snack will satisfy the hunger pangs at any time of day. If you’re heading for a lockdown picnic with friends, adjust the recipe accordingly.

Serves: 1
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 5 minutes
Deliciousness: 12.5/10

1 ripe Hass avocado
Agri Fermented Green Sriracha
2 pieces of sourdough
Salt & pepper to taste
Chilli flakes (optional)

The recipe is simple:

Take one perfectly ripe Hass avocado, slice it in half and remove the stone.

Delicately cube, aggressively smash or slice your avocado either in a bowl or directly onto freshly toasted sourdough. Season with some sea salt and cracked black pepper on top.

Add Agri.

Depending on your heat tolerance, drizzle, splash or soak your avocado in Agri. Our fermented green sriracha will bring all the flavour you need; its earthy, rich, tangy notes perfectly compliment the humble avocado.

If you’re impressing people (or impressing yourself), sprinkle some chilli flakes on top and serve on a posh plate. Voila.

Guacamole with New Kicks:

If your summer doesn’t scream guacamole on everything, this probably isn’t the blog for you. Nachos, pita bread, veggie sticks, there’s really nothing that guacamole can’t accompany.

Serves: 2-4
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 10 minutes
Deliciousness: 10/10

2 x Hass avocados
1/4 finely chopped red onion
1 diced vine tomato
Juice of 1/2 lime and/or lemon
Agri Fermented Green Sriracha
Salt & pepper to taste
Coriander (a generous handful)

There are 1,000’s of guacamole recipes on the world wide web, so we’ll keep this brief. The secret ingredient is Agri Fermented Green Sriracha, which adds a chilli kick and balanced flavour in one hit.

Smash the avo in a bowl. Roughly chop the onion and tomato (small enough that your guests don’t choke on the pieces and sue you). Mix together.

Season with salt, pepper and coriander to taste (we’re leaving this part up to you!). Squeeze a healthy dose of lime and lemon and stir.

Douse your guacamole with Agri Fermented Green Sriracha.

Hot tip: if you’ve got a mix of spice palettes sharing your masterpiece, we suggest separating the dips into beginner and expert spice levels. My partner (said Avocado-hater) used half a bottle, this may not be necessary for all!

Serve within 24 hours to achieve snack legend status.

    Spiced Chocolate Avocado Mousse

There’s no typo. We’re making it a thing.

We’ve somehow managed to make chocolate mousse healthy(ish - if you avoid the caramel and chocolate shavings, unlike us!). Perfect for that 3pm craving.

    Serves: 2
    Difficulty: Easy
Prep: 5 minutes. Cooling: 1 hour
    Deliciousness: 9.5/10

    1 large ripe avocado
2 1/2 tbsp honey (we use Backyard Honey)
    1/2 tsp vanilla extract
    30g raw cacao powder
    Agri Fermented Green Sriracha

    Note from the kitchen:
If you're a real sweet tooth like us, sub out some of the honey for dulce de leche sauce, and add 1 tsp sea salt for slightly sweeter salted caramel version of this!

Chuck the avocados into a food processor and blend until smooth. If you’ve lost your food processor (aka Agri kitchen), a hand blender also does a pretty good job - we’re a resourceful bunch!

Add a tablespoon of honey with the vanilla extract and cacao powder, blending it to smithereens. At this point, your options are to add the remaining honey or, take the Agri recommended option and substitute 1½ tbsp of Havanna Dulce de Leche Sauce and a tsp of sea salt. You won’t regret it.

    Add Agri.

We suggest a couple of generous splashes to balance the creaminess.

Evenly portion the mousse into whatever vessels you have lying around - we chose a couple of lockdown 1 pottery class ramekins. Grate over some of your favourite chocolate, then cover and pop in the fridge for 1 hour before serving.

Make sure you tell your mates you created this masterpiece - they’ll think you’ve lost the plot...until they try it!

As always, if you give this a try let us know how your recipes go! We encourage freedom of Agri expression! Tag us on Facebook or Insta, or just hashtag #addagri and we'll find you.

    Happy cooking!
